What is trustworthy? Start out looking at yourself. Have you ever failed yourself or anyone else? If your answer is no, you may want to consider repenting for being dishonest. Sadly some people think that they are trustworthy. That would mean that they always keep their word. And we give our word not only to people but to God.
When we sin of any sort as Christians, we show ourselves to be untrustworthy.
We may have a family member whom we believe will be there for us no matter what and they may truly have that desire. However whatever their intention is, at some point they will fail us if for no other reason than their inability. Many people trust the government. Sadly they don't see it is full of people who are elected mostly because of popularity and many of them are corrupt. Clearly politicians are not the smartest and most honest people in our society.
Who or what then can we trust? Is there a group of very smart people who know the truth?
Perhaps there are and they are working hard to blind and distract people from it. They fear the truth. Is there a book other than the Bible that is reputable?
The Bible is the most published, most read book in the world.
What better way is there for God to communicate with mankind?
We can not even trust in our own minds because we know they have failed us at times.

The entire physical world fails us. It started with Adam's sin.
Many people have lost everything and at times their lives as well from tornadoes, hurricanes, tidal waves, earthquakes and volcanoes.
That which they trusted to be fully secure was not secure at all.

We have no valid foundation for directions outside the Bible as to how to live our lives before God and others. Many people put their trust in their own reasoning. When it comes to the most important reasoning one can have, about their salvation, the Bible makes clear what the result of earthly reasoning is. "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." Prov 14:12 We tend to trust in our thinking, our reasoning. When we interact with professionals in their fields, for good reason we don't trust them 100%. From time to time, we are lost or simply not educated or skilled enough to solve a problem. For example, a contractor that we really trust says they can solve our problem and even though we don't think his solution is the best one, we give in and say, "Please, just fix it." How much more should we trust God when He is so much more capable!
It's really an illusion that we think anything in this world is trustworthy.
Some things and some people are more trustworthy than others.
It is wise to think that the best the world offers is the better of two evils.
The earth is subject to corruption and not trustworthy. People, even Christians at times live in the flesh.
The Bible, inspired by God, is the only trustworthy material we have on this planet.

We many times say that something "is" true. Jesus takes it a million steps beyond that when He said,
Jesus answering Pilate said,
Pilate replied correctly as one should who does not know God,
We all have to come to terms about who Jesus is. "Liar, Lunatic, or Lord." If He is Lord, He fulfilled and validated the Bible. He left his Apostles behind to record history and give us the New Testament inspired by God.

It is important to pay special attention to the word "all." As we read God's Word, we come across passages that are hard to accept. They are hard for two reasons. Since God's ways are above our ways, some things don't make sense to our "natural" self. Secondly, some passages are hard because they direct us to set aside earthly pleasures in order to please God. We simply do not want to and try to twist or ignore scripture that reveals an uncomfortable truth. The Bible is our only source of pure truth on this planet. Soak up its truths. Treasure it as what it is, a revelation of the infinite God of the universe and His desire for us.
